1. Complete account setup and connect the Hub
Follow the in-app instructions until the Sensor Placement portion.
2. Comfort Sensor placement
The placement of the Comfort Sensor is unaffected when installing a Hardware
Kit on an RTU. Place the sensor according to the in-app instructions on a main
supply air vent.
3. Filter Sensor placement for RTU Package Units
i. If the filter is located in a wall or ceiling return vent, follow the prompts in the
app and place the Filter Sensor behind the filter as typically done.
ii. If the filter is in-system and therefore inaccessible on the rooftop, place the
Filter Sensor inside a return air vent even if no filter is present.
4. Water Sensor placement for RTU Package Units
Given rooftop package units do not have a secondary drain pan, the Water
Sensor cannot be placed as directed in the app. Instead, place the Water
Sensor in the water heater drain pan and rename the location to ‘Water
Heater’ in the app.
5. Condenser nameplate photo
If the condenser is safely accessible, take a photo of the nameplate showing the
serial number.
If the condenser is inaccessible, please email the serial and model number to
support@smartac.com at the end of onboarding. If these details are unknown,
please provide any available system information such as type (gas furnace or heat
pump), speed (constant, dual, or variable), tonnage, and year of manufacture.
